Fertilization of rice in the single-season rice zone of the lower Changjiang River

1. Yield level below 500 kg/mu, nitrogen fertilizer (N) dosage 8-10 kg/mu, phosphorus fertilizer (P2O5) 2-3 kg/mu; potassium fertilizer (K2O) 3-4 kg/mu; yield level 500-600 kg/mu, nitrogen fertilizer ( N) dosage 10-12 kg/mu, phosphorus fertilizer (P2O5) 3-4 kg/mu; potash (K2O) 4-5 kg/mu; yield level 600 kg/mu or more, nitrogen fertilizer (N) dosage 12-18 kg/mu, phosphorus fertilizer ( P2O5) 5-6 kg/mu; potash (K2O) 6-8 kg/mu.

2. Nitrogen fertilizer base fertilizer accounts for 40%-50%, tiller fertilizer accounts for 20%-30%, spike fertilizer accounts for 20%-30%; phosphorus fertilizer, organic fertilizer all base application; potassium fertilizer base fertilizer accounts for 50%-60%, spike fertilizer accounts for 40%- 50%. Base application of silicon containing fertilizer; zinc sulfate 1-2 kg/mu for zinc deficient soil.

3. 20-10-15 (N-P2O5-K2O) or a similar formula is recommended as a base fertiliser.

4. The amount of base fertiliser should be reduced for plots with organic fertiliser or green manure planting and tilling; the amount of nitrogen fertiliser should be reduced by 10% for plots with slow-release fertiliser as base fertiliser. The amount of potassium fertiliser is reduced by 30% for plots with full amount of straw returned to the field.
