EU Lowers Oilseed Production Forecast For 2022/23, Raises Sunflower Oil Import Forecast

The European Commission data released on Tuesday (June 7) showed that the 2022/23 EU-27 rapeseed production forecast was lowered by 200,000 tons to 18.1 million tons from a forecast of 18.3 million tons a month ago.

The 2022/23 EU sunflower seed production forecast was also lowered to 10.9 million tons from 11.2 million tons.

The European Commission raised its 2022/23 sunflower oil imports by 600,000 tons to 1.5 million tons, up sharply from last month's forecast of about 900,000 tons.

 2021/22 sunflower oil imports are expected to be 1.9 million tons.

Most of the EU's sunflower oil imports come from Ukraine.
